Plant Parenting

I just discovered that I like being a plant parent. I got Aggie, an Aglaonema Beauty for my birthday and Theri (silent h), an Anthurium for Mother's Day. Yes, I did name them, because they are houseplants and will be with me for a very long time. I looked online to see if other people name their plants. And indeed, they do! As a matter of fact, 800-flowers recommends naming your indoor plants, because it's healthy for both you and your plant.

My older son and his fiancée got these for me from easyplant.com. I will have to say that they are VERY easy to take care of just like they claim on their commercials and website. I'm very pleased, to say the least.

After Aggie arrived, I noticed a shift in my mood. And when Theri arrived, I became more energetic. I'm doing things I haven't done in a while, such as making birthday cakes for the family, making dessert, cleaning the entire house in a day - and very happy to be doing them. Anyway, MK and L told me they didn't want to cover me up with houseplants, but they thought one more would be nice. I then told them that it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if they want to continue to have plants sent to me from time to time.

Do I talk to my plants? Yes, I do that too. From the same article on 800-flowers, it tells about how our CO2 emissions, as we talk to them, is really what plants like. I just find that it's soothing to have that conversation with the plant. 💗

I had also heard that plants like music. So, I'll play some meditation/relaxation music or classical music for them from time to time as well. I figured that listening to that music is pretty great for me too. And according to Mr. Smarty Plants, there was a Mythbusters show that said it is plausible that playing music was good for the plants in their study - even heavy metal if you prefer that.

Aggie likes filtered light, so she's on a bookshelf near the kitchen window.

Theri likes more direct sunlight, so she gets to sit by the kitchen window by my crafting and reading  nook.

So, no more excuses. Get yourself an indoor plant to get that mood shift and energy boost you're looking for. Life is good! Houseplants can help you discover that.

Blessings,

Patricia

Finally a Few Nice Days in a Row

I've been waiting and waiting for spring temps to arrive for more than a couple of days without rain. And this is the week! We finally have some color in the yard and on our deck. So, I want to share what my husband, son, and I have been up to for the last few days. First of all, we had our first cookout on Sunday, April 28 to celebrate our younger son's birthday. That officially kicks off spring. I mixed the first batch of hummingbird nectar a couple of weeks ago, hoping the males would take advantage while the females were tending to their nests. As far as we can tell, 1 male has visited twice. Of course, we can't look out the window all of the time. But we do look out frequently. And we hang them in 2 locations that we can see directly from the kitchen windows. The rose bushes started blooming about a week ago, and I finally had time to take pictures of them. I pulled out the grass and weeds that were growing around them a couple of hours after I took the front-facing ...

Tomedes Free Transcription and Translation

Recently, as you know, I’ve transitioned from a career in transcription and data entry to one focused on generating passive income . Throughout this shift, I’ve realized that I still rely on AI transcription services for the writing component of my new business. In previous posts, I mentioned several AI transcription options, and today, I want to highlight Tomedes’ free Transcribing (up to a 10 MB video file) and Translation services.  Tomedes Transcribing and Translation Services Like other free offerings, these services come with certain limitations and may incur additional charges once those limits are exceeded. However, I find their free offers to be comparable to other AI transcription and translation platforms available online. Offering free services showcases Tomedes' confidence in their products. Additionally, providing these free options helps build trust between the company and users, while also giving individuals the opportunity to explore and experience the features o...
