I finally had some time to get a few flowers for the backyard. We have had a few cold nights and some overnight rainfall I've had to protect them from already. Normally, I would wait until the cold nights are over before buying my flowers, but I had the time to both pick them out and repot them a couple of weeks ago.
The flowers on the deck get moved close to the house under the eaves to shelter them from the cold and heavy rainfall.
The petunias and calibrachoa (million bells) should be fairly cold hardy for a couple of nights. But since they are in the yard and their flowers are rather delicate, I protected them from the rain by placing small Dollar Tree laundry-style baskets over them, using bungy cords to hold them down.
