Sweet Love

 Percy Bysshe Shelley wrote:

All love is sweet, given or returned.

And Apostle Paul wrote something along those lines, quoting Jesus, in Act 20:35 (KJV):

It's more blessed to give than receive.

We receive more in return for giving. Giving is powerful. If you have a favorite charity that you donate to regularly, or give to the man or woman holding the sign on the corner of a busy street, or smile at the grumpy cashier, you get a feeling inside that's indescribable - one that makes us feel that we're the recipients. That's because, in a way, we are. Someone is grateful for the meal we helped provide them with that day. And we don't know why the cashier is always grumpy, but maybe that smile is something she needed to help her change her life around. Maybe we gave her something she doesn't get often - a kind and understanding smile.

Sometimes we can listen, so lend an ear to someone who just needs to talk something out. We can be understanding. So, watch for opportunities like these. Giving doesn't have to cost money. Sometimes, we can give our time. When we're a blessing to others, we receive a blessing as well. And then love surrounds us all.

Love Never Fails

After Saul (Paul) was converted from Judaism, in which he was a trained priest, to Christianity on the road to Damascus, he spent a few years learning how to be a better person for God's new work in Christ. After God prepared him, Paul started preaching the Good News to people in different cities. One of those cities was Corinth in Greece. When Paul needed to correct - or praise - some teachings of the churches that were established in these cities but couldn't get back to them right away, he would write them letters. One of these letters (often called epistles) is called I Corinthians in the Holy Bible.  The message I want to bring to your attention today is what Paul was telling this church about love. He told them in verse 16:14 to, " Do everything with love. " (NLT) The NKJV read as, " Let all that you do be done with love. " What a difference we could make in the world if we could all follow this beautiful advice.  In the same Book of I Corinthians 13:
